Ora and her team partnered with Walgreens and traveled to 36 states including a Native American reservation and to the country of Honduras during the COVID-19 pandemic. The group administered mammograms, COVID vaccines and provided testing to low-income citizens.
Never one to sit on the sidelines and wait for others to act – Ora is not afraid to take the lead and get her hands dirty. With a heart for anyone in need, especially children, Ora has travelled the world to deliver much-needed medical screenings and supplies, food, shoes, and clothing to disadvantaged populations. Check out these videos of Ora in action. This is the kind of servant leader that Peachtree Corners needs to meet the needs of all of its citizens.
With a keen interest in service and a love for Peachtree Corners, Ora established the Georgia Pearls of Service Foundation, Inc. (GPOS), the 501c3 fundraising arm of Psi Omega Omega Chapter in 2013, and currently serves as president. The GPOS Foundation raises funds each year to provide scholarships to high school students and support to selected community service organizations. Ora and GPOS board members recently planted peach trees at a local Peachtree Corners farm, promoting environmental stewardship and supporting local businesses.
Ora was appointed International Chair of Community Programming for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In this capacity, she led a committee with representation from the 10 regions of the sorority, and provided direction and oversight of the program from 2018 - 2022. The program defined the framework for Alpha Kappa Alpha’s commitment to service that is embraced by its 300,000 members and over 1,000 chapters located throughout the world.
Ora was chartering president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Psi Omega Omega Chapter in 2014, establishing the organization that continues to provide community service to Peachtree Corners residents, including high school students, senior citizens, entrepreneurs, and those in need. In addition, the sorority has partnered with Gwinnett County to keep 1.6 miles of road clean on Peachtree Corners Circle.
